Kent State UXD Student Bio: Jane Jones User Persona

The Kent State UXD Student Bio: Jane Jones User Persona project was developed specifically to explore personas in Library and Information Science and examine how development and consideration of personas could lead to improved and more focused practice in the library space. The project was a direct result of other UXD projects in this course that considered how design impacts use of any product, space, or experience, and directly supported work I was undertaking concurrently in 60614: Collection Management in Libraries around community demographic studies. Additionally, User Experience Design principles were used in the layout and design process to make the project more easily shared and understood by other professionals. The project, therefore, meets PLO5 by identifying the needs of users, in this case in the form of a persona used to guide library practice, and then to use that persona to help connect people with information. The project also closely follows RUSA Guideline 1: Inclusion and RUSA Guideline 3: Engagement by considering a specific user or user group and considering how that persona might impact library practice and access in an inclusive way. ALA Ethics 1 and 9 regarding accurate and equitable access to information and affirming the inherent dignity of every person, were used as guiding principles.
